I've finally finished the templates and Drupal content types and configurations, so Food Geeking is here!
Over the next couple of weeks, Kris and I will be working on the first show and figuring out exactly which of the 51,386 ideas from last weekends's discussion will be used. We're expecting a show between 20 and 45 minutes in length, several different segments that will rotate through the show, and other stuff we're not ready to disclose as of yet. More after the break...
While the site is up, there is still a bunch of work to do. Among the improvements coming in the near future:
- RSS Feeds
- We will have multiple RSS feeds for various content types. The front page will have its own feed, as will the Podcasts and Recipes. Drupal allows some pretty interesting feed gymnastics, so it might be possible to have a feed for all South Indian cuisine that has a keyword of "Spicy".
- Podcast
- The whole point of setting this up was for Podcasting, so of course it's coming. I'm fiddling around with various options to provide the same features as Podpress does on the rest of the FarPoint Media sites.
- Library
- While The Dragon Page has a library section, we're throwing around the idea of keeping a food-centric library section around.
- Ratings
- What good are all of the recipes that are going to show up without some sort of rating system? There are several candidates that are being evaluated; the best one will show up here in the future.
That's it for now. Check back for more information!

Willing to Help
Hi guys,
I'm computer guy who loves to cook. I'll cook in the kitchen, on a charcoal grill, or (and most recently) in my cast iron dutch ovens.
If I can help please let me know. You've got my email address in your accounts section :)
Will
Yea! I'm looking forward to
Yea! I'm looking forward to this. I'm always looking for new ways to improve my cooking skills.
This may be a dumb question,
This may be a dumb question, but what exactly is the podcast going to be? Recipes of any particular kind? Weird stuff? Only those things that family have said, "You have to make this again!"?
Not dumb at all,
Not dumb at all, actually.
Kris and I are still kind of fleshing it out, actually. I'm envisioning a little of everything at the moment: some recipes, some history, things that have screwed up, tidbits of food in the news (like the post about cloned foods); things like that. I think the direction of the show is going to change over time, and most of that will be due to listener input.
If you have suggestions or something that you think would be a good addition, please feel free to let us know.
Offer for Help
Hi guys, I live on the west side of Phoenix and while this is a podcast and can be heard around the world. Glendale will be hosting the Super Bowl in '08, at the worlds largest cinnamon bun, A.K.A. Arizona Cardinals, University of Phoenix, Glendale Stadium.
My wife and I like to eat out a lot and have been talking about doing restaurant reviews for the West Side (Most of the Reviews you can find are for the East Side or Central Phoenix). We were thinking about stealing, err borrowing Charlie the Beer Guys "Completely Arbitrary Totally Subjective Rating System."
Modifying a little bit
APPEARANCE: What it looks like when you approach inside and out.
MENU: Selection and descriptions of the Food.
DRINKS: The same as above Alcoholic and non.
SERVICE: This can make or break a restaurant experience.
HOLISTIC: The whole thing wrapped up.
Tell me what you guys think and if you are interested.
Opps it should read: Offer of Help
I also realized that I forgot to mention the food.
So I am modifying my modified rating system.
APPEARANCE: What it looks like when you approach inside and out.
MENU: Selection and descriptions of the Food and Drinks, alcoholic and nonalcoholic.
FOOD: What it taste like and how well any special orders were handled.
SERVICE: This can make or break a restaurant experience.
HOLISTIC: The whole thing wrapped up.
The more I think about it I would include some other CBG notes. A Price/Amount of food value scale and such.
I also forgot my E-Mail Address. C.A.Sizemore@Cox.net
